A Community-Driven Service
The outside Free Table began as a place where the library could make available materials – Books, DVDs, and music – for the benefit of our patrons. Eventually, patrons added to the service and began dropping off non-perishable food and gently used items: kitchen wares, school and office supplies, baby gear, toys, games, puzzles, vinyl, tools, jewelry, knick-knacks and more.
We fell in with the expanded service and have added an inside free table in our entryway for fragile products and items impacted by the weather.
We generally accept any items that may bless a neighbors, however, we are unable to accept: bags of clothes, perishable food, and furniture.
Items may be placed on the outside free table anytime, or the inside free table when we are open.
Book Donations – we do ask that book donations be dropped off inside the library as we review and select appropriate items for our collection, the book sale (book sale link here,) and the Free Table.
Also, in our entryway, we have a “Take a Bag or Leave a Bag” spinner for larger paper/vinyl tote and shopping bags. (please no small plastic shopping bags)
There are also free boxes kept under the table for shipping that package, moving across town, or just everyday cardboard box fun.
If you are unsure whether we can accept your item(s) for the free table – please call us: 412-882-5694 during open hours or email us at brentwood@brentwoodpubliclibrary.org
