Friends of the Brentwood Library Book Sale
Every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Friends of the Brentwood Library volunteers host the book sale where you can browse a wide selection of gently used books, fiction, nonfiction, DVDs, music CDs, games, and more. All proceeds go directly to support library programs, collections, and services. In addition, the room is opened by patron request during regular library hours. Most items are $1.00 or less, with some sections for Special Priced items that are more than a dollar. All items are priced.
BOOK SALE VOLUNTEERS
If you would like to volunteer on book sale Saturdays please stop by and complete a volunteer application. Please highlight your interest in assisting in the book sale. There is also opportunity for those with good computer skills to assist with sorting and processing the materials. All donations are processed by trained volunteers and staff for addition to our library collection, the book sale, or to our free table.
DONATIONS
Donations are always appreciated—books, media, and games in good condition are accepted.
Donations can be dropped off anytime we are open – please enter through the front doors. If assistance is needed, please let us know. (We have a dolly.)
Due to space limitations, we ask for a limit of 2 boxes per month per household. However, we understand that there are times when one finds themselves with a larger collection that must be cleared out in a quicker timeframe. For these larger collections: please email Dennis Luther at lutherd@brentwoodpubliclibrary.org, or call 412-882-5694, and we can discuss how to best handle your donation.
What we are pleased to accept:
In good condition: Books, hardback and paperback, DVDs, Music CDs, CD Books, Computer and board games, Albums, and Comics.
We also accept older books that may be worn but may have interest for a bibliophile.
No encyclopedia sets, except pre 1940 Britannic Encyclopedia Sets or any sets published in the last 5 years.
We will consider unique magazine sets such as auto/truck, book collecting, crafts, or trades, and consider larger unique sets such as the 57 volume set of Great Books.
What we cannot use:
Please, no VHS tapes, cassettes, or misc. magazines older than 6 months.
Please, no National Geographic sets.
Please, no musty, moldly, smelly, dirty, or damp items. (items that have been stored in a damp area or basement)
As requested, we provide a receipt for the number of boxes donated.
